Concrete Patio Cost Calculator

A plain concrete patio costs about $5–$8 per square foot installed, so a 20 × 20 ft patio is $2,000–$3,200, and basic stamped concrete $4,000–$5,600. Enter your patio's size, thickness and finish, and say whether it is new, replaces an old patio or extends one, to get the installed range, the cost per square foot, the removal of the old patio, and the concrete in yards and bags if you pour it yourself.

How HomeMath prices a concrete patio

HomeMath multiplies the patio's area by a published installed price per square foot for the finish: plain or broom $5–$8; stamped, basic $10–$14; stamped, mid-range $14–$20; stamped, high-end $20 and up, from Concrete Network's patio and stamped concrete cost pages (read October 2026). It reads them as a 4 in slab and adds the concrete of any extra thickness at $160–$195 a cubic yard. A replacement adds the removal of an old patio of the same size at Fixr's $2–$4 per square foot, or $4–$6 with rebar or mesh; an extension prices the added area only. For a patio you pour yourself, the concrete is the volume with 10% waste, ordered in quarter yards at the ready-mix range, or counted in 80 lb bags. In metric, HomeMath converts meters and centimeters exactly (1 in = 2.54 cm) and shows the result in cubic meters, liters and square meters.

The published rules it uses: US customary units; metric conversion; premixed bag yields; published price ranges; removal, weight and hauling. Their sources, and how HomeMath tests every result, are on the about page.

How much does a concrete patio cost by size?

Installed ranges, 4 in thick. The high-end column gives where that level starts. Replacing an old patio adds its removal: Fixr gives $2–$4 per sq ft for plain concrete and $4–$6 with rebar or wire mesh, disposal included (updated January 31, 2025). The concrete removal cost calculator prices the tear-out on its own.

What does it cost to replace a concrete patio?

A replacement adds the removal of the old patio at Fixr's prices above. Concrete Network adds that demolition and other site work raise a patio's price.

What do common patios cost?

At the published ranges, 4 in thick; a replacement adds the removal of a plain old slab.

  • 10 × 10 ft patio, plain$500–$800
  • 12 × 12 ft patio, plain$720–$1,152

How do I estimate a patio replacement by hand?

A 12 × 24 ft patio, 4 inches thick, plain, replacing an old patio without rebar:

  1. Area: 12 × 24 = 288 sq ft.
  2. New patio: 288 × $5–$8 = $1,440–$2,304.
  3. Removal: 288 × $2–$4 = $576–$1,152.
  4. Total: $2,016–$3,456, or $7–$12 per sq ft.
  5. Concrete: 96 cu ft, or 3.56 cu yd; with 10% waste 3.91 cu yd, ordered as 4.00 yd.

What does the concrete cost if you pour the patio yourself?

The concrete is the main material. The table gives it with 10% waste, at Concrete Network's ready-mix range of $160–$195 a cubic yard before delivery, and in 80 lb bags. Gravel for the base, forms, rebar or mesh, tool rental, sealer and the delivery or short-load fee come on top.

To price it at your supplier's own prices, use the concrete cost calculator; for a patio on a gravel base, the concrete pad calculator adds the gravel. A poured patio falls slightly away from the house: the patio slope calculator gives the drop for its size.

How much more does a stamped patio cost?

Stamped concrete is pressed with patterned mats, often with color, to look like stone, brick or slate. Concrete Network prices it in three levels: basic at $10–$14 per sq ft (one pattern, one color), mid-range at $14–$20 (borders, contrasting patterns, several colors) and high-end from $20 (several patterns and colors, scored designs, hand coloring). The 12 × 24 ft patio is $2,880–$4,032 in basic stamped against $1,440–$2,304 plain. To compare stamped quotes against plain and broom ones, use the concrete slab price calculator; for pavers instead of poured concrete, the paver cost calculator prices a patio installed.

What does a patio extension cost?

An extension is priced like a new patio of the size you add: pick Extend and enter only the new part. A 10 × 12 ft extension is $600–$960 plain. Ask the contractor:

  • How the new slab joins the old one: dowels, or an expansion joint between them
  • Whether the new part can match the old patio's color, finish and height
  • Whether a small job carries a minimum charge

What does a patio cost in metric?

Switch the units to metric and the calculator takes meters and centimeters and shows the prices per square meter, the same US ranges converted: plain $53.82–$86.11 per m², basic stamped $108–$151 per m², and ready-mix $209–$255 a cubic meter. A 4 × 7 m patio 10 cm thick is $1,507–$2,411 plain and takes 3.25 m³ of concrete.

What changes a patio quote?

The estimate is the national range for the finish. A quote moves with these, so ask for them as separate lines:

  • Removing the old patio, or grading the ground for a new one
  • Access: a backyard the truck can't reach needs a pump or a wheelbarrow crew
  • The gravel base, the thickness and the reinforcement
  • Steps, curves and borders, which take more hand work than open areas
  • Color, the stamp pattern and the sealer

Type each quote's total into the quote check to see its price per square foot next to the estimate.

How much does a stamped concrete patio cost?
$10–$14 per square foot installed for basic stamped concrete (one pattern, one color), $14–$20 for mid-range and $20 and up for high-end, by Concrete Network's stamped concrete cost page. A 12 × 24 ft patio is $2,880–$4,032 in basic stamped against $1,440–$2,304 plain.
How much does the concrete for a patio cost if I pour it myself?
For a 12 × 24 ft patio 4 inches thick, 3.91 cu yd with 10% waste, ordered as 4.00 yd: $640–$780 at Concrete Network's $160–$195 a cubic yard, before delivery. Gravel, forms, rebar or mesh, tool rental and sealer come on top; price the pour at your own prices in the concrete cost calculator.
How many bags of concrete do I need for a patio?
176 bags of 80 lb for a 12 × 24 ft patio 4 inches thick with 10% waste, or 88 for a 12 × 12 ft patio. A patio of more than a yard or two is usually poured from a ready-mix truck: one cubic yard is 45 bags of 80 lb to mix by hand.
How much does it cost to extend a concrete patio?
The added area times the installed price per square foot: a 10 × 12 ft extension (120 sq ft) is about $600–$960 plain. Pick Extend and enter only the new part. Ask the contractor how it joins the old slab (dowels or an expansion joint), and whether the new concrete can match the old patio's color and finish.
What does a concrete patio cost per square meter?
About $53.82–$86.11 per square meter for a plain patio and $108–$151 for basic stamped concrete, Concrete Network's US ranges per square foot converted (1 m² is about 10.76 sq ft). They are US prices in dollars. Switch the calculator to metric to enter meters and centimeters.
Why do concrete patio quotes differ so much?
Access, site work and finish move the price most. Concrete Network notes that grading, demolition or other site work raises it, and a backyard the truck can't reach needs a pump or a wheelbarrow crew. Compare quotes at the same size, thickness and finish, with the removal, base, reinforcement and sealer listed, and turn each total into a price per square foot with the quote check.
